The editor fills the page with the map. Around it:
- the top menu — the course name, undo, import, export and save;
- the left menu — four panels: Points, Timing, Tools and Info. The arrow on its edge hides it to give the map more room;
- the bottom menu — a distance slider and the elevation profile;
- three mode buttons down the right-hand side of the map, which decide what a click on the map does.
The three mode buttons
Exactly one mode is on at a time; the active button is highlighted.
| Button | Mode | A click on the map… |
|---|---|---|
| Pan and edit (the default) | Moves the map as usual. Drag a point on the course to move it; drag one of the small handles between two points to add a new point there. Right-click a point for more options (below). Clicking empty map clears the selected point. | |
| Draw | Adds a new point to the end of the course, so clicking along a road draws the course forwards. Start a new course this way, or extend an imported one. | |
| Timing point | Drops a timing point on the course where you click, snapped onto the line, then switches back to Pan. The name and colour are taken from the Timing panel if you filled them in. |
Esc returns to Pan and clears the selected point.
Right-clicking a point
In Pan mode, right-click any point on the course for:
- Delete this point.
- Range starts here / Range ends here — sets the range in the Points panel, to delete or replace a stretch.
- Add a timing point here.
- Start the loop here — on a closed loop, makes this point the start and finish.
Zoom and points
A recorded course can have tens of thousands of points, so they are only drawn once you zoom in far enough to edit them, and only a sample when there are too many on screen. The Points panel says when that is happening — zoom in to see them all.
